The most popular kind of towel art is animals including elephants, swans, puppies, and rabbits. The trend is most common at resorts in major vacation destinations and onboard cruise ships.

Towel origami has become a sense of indication for the guest by the housekeeping staff that, “I was in the room and did something for you while you had gone”. They add a special touch to the overall experience and the guests are truly amazed to see the towels turn into animals, cakes and many more things. I once encountered my room attendant making something creative out of towel and I got interested in learning innovations made by him. Every time he entered a guest room I used to ask him to teach me new things, and I made sure that I take a feedback from the guest. The guests used to get overwhelmed with these gestures and started recognising the attendant by his name. This inturn made him motivated. The pleasant surprise might increase the likelihood of guests’ leaving a tip, but hotels now have an even better reason to allot housekeeping time to towel origami.
